The Science department offers 4 compulsory subjects and one elective subject. In class XI, there is an integrated program in English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as compulsory subject and one elective subject from Biology or computer science. In class XII the compulsory subjects include English, Nepali, Physics and Chemistry, while the elective subject should be selected among Biology, Computer Science and Mathematics. The overall course is designed to equip the students with the level for further study in the fields of Medicine and Engineering. This area also provides the students a thorough understanding of the chosen subjects and a strong academic foundation on which they will be able to build their higher education and future career.

Biology

This course includes a detailed study of nature and organisms. Biology is based on the experimentations and classroom instructions about the general properties of all living organisms. The syllabus includes biological diversity, their anatomical features, cellular and molecular biology, physiology of organisms, nature and ecology, microbiology and genetics and detailed study about common vertebrates system with reference to human biology. The students will get knowledge about the earth, their habitat, their nation and themselves.

The laws and concepts studied in physics are fundamental to all process. Hence, the syllabus includes the detail study of the relationship between matter and energy. The field is divided into many different interrelated sub topics like mechanics, heat, electricity and magnetism, wave motion, optics and atomic physics. Scientific skills such as observation, data analysis and scientific writing are sharpened and practiced in the context of applying the scientific method. The course aims to foster an appreciation for the theoretical as well as practical aspects of physical laws.

This course includes a detailed study of the nature and behaviour of matter, combining a practical experience and theoretical foundation with in scientific inquiry through laboratory experiments. Chemistry includes atomic structure, chemical bonding, chemical composition, kinetic theory of gases, gas laws, periodic properties of elements, equations and mass relationships, etc. The chemistry of some important gases, such as oxygen and hydrogen, as well as that of several acids, bases and simple hydrocarbons is also included in the curriculum.

Nepali Go TO Top ^

This course emphasizes the grammatical use of national language Nepali. It covers the grammatical knowledge of Nepali, writing skills, expression styles, etc. Phonetically correct oral expression, accurate use of language and idioms and skills in analyzing ideas are encouraged.

The syllabus develops the students' skills in spoken and written English language. Phonetically correct oral expression, accurate use of language and idioms and skills in analyzing ideas are encouraged. All classes are conducted in English, and instructional activities aim to encourage active communication and provide exposure to the language study. The curriculum aims at strengthening students' competence and to enable the student to cope with the challenges of the modern society.

Mathematics

This curriculum aims at making its students well prepared to face the competitive exams for their future career. Apart from such practical considerations, however, this curriculum believes in the additional value of mathematics as a branch of philosophy and as a disciplined mode of thought. Mathematics fosters an appreciation of knowledge for its own sake. Among the sciences, mathematics particularly trains the minds in critical analysis, sequential thought, organization and the practices of rigorous logic in pursuit of sound and defensible conclusions.

Accountancy

It is designed to impart a foundation level education on book keeping and accounting for business, non profit and business organizations. It provides a platform for higher studies specializing in accountancy or simply applies the knowledge as a tool for recording, analyzing and interpreting accounting information for meaningful decision making. The syllabus covers cost accounting, auditing, book keeping under the double entry system, accounting for the companies and government accounting with various principles of accounting.

Computer Science

This syllabus sees the purpose of computer science as enhancing creativity, improving communications, and augmenting the intellectual endeavor throughout the Nepalese HSEB community. The courses provide students with the knowledge and skills to use computer technology in effective and imaginative ways. This course also encourages students to use computers for upgrading knowledge.

Travel and Tourism

This course focuses on providing basic practical and theoretical knowledge of travel and tourism management. This course provides the fundamental knowledge to the students who intend to pursue their career in travel and tourism. The course can be very useful for those who have a family business in the travel and tourism sector or for those who intend to make a career in this field. It includes introduction to travel and tourism initiatives, marketing of tourism products and impacts of travel and tourism.

Hotel Management

This course aims at providing the students with the basic knowledge, both practical and theoretical about hotel and the hospitality industry. It deals with the concept of hospitality products, features of hospitality products, importance of hotels in tourism development, planning in hospitality business and other issues surrounding the hotel industry with respect to Nepal and world.

Economics

This course emphasizes the study of trends and development in various economic theories. It focuses on concepts, tools and models in contemporary economic theory that has proved relevant to the problems in both developing and developed country. Topics include growth process, structural changes, investment and source of savings, employment, labour markets, population growth development, capital accumulation, rural development, urbanization, poverty and income distribution, agricultural and industrial development. This course covers the analysis of linear regression, discrete dependent variables, time series models and different aspects of Nepalese economy.

Office Management and Secretarial Practice (OMSP)

It is designed to give vocational orientation to the students about office management and secretarial practices. It covers official, secretarial and managerial skills. Filing system, indexing system, record system, holding meetings, preparing reports and minutes, record maintenance, and skills to operate office equipments are the basic features of OMSP. This course also acquires field visit to different governmental, private, corporate offices, projects, etc.

Business Mathematics

This is an ideal math refresher course for business studies. It covers practical applications of set theory, sequences and series matrices and determinants, co-ordinate geometry, simple interest, functions, limits, differentiation, integration, present values, interest, compound interest, interest on installment loans, amortized mortgage loans, discounting notes and other problems of everyday business and I accounting.

Marketing

It is in lieu of Business Marketing. It aims at providing the students a fundamental knowledge about the marketing function of business enterprises. The course will not only be useful as a foundation for higher studies but also provides a basis for seeking employment at the front line marketing jobs. The course deals with elements of marketing, marketing functions, products, distribution, pricing, promotion and agricultural marketing.
Sociology

This course covers the basics of sociology, anthropology, social policies, social stratification, and social institutions. This course also focuses on social research in the field of anthropology, sociology, history, culture, gender study, social changing process in Nepal. Religious variation, gender discrimination, ethnographic distribution, their norms and values are other basics of this course.

Rural Economics

This course covers the problems and prospects of rural economy, basic economic concept, and major rural economic activities of Nepal. Rural industries, rural resources, rural marketing, rural infrastructure, rural poverty, etc. are some highlight of this course.

Mass communication and Journalism

This course covers mass communication, the concept of news, news editing, human right and press freedom. It aims to provide and develop basic skills in journalism, reporting, news editing, news sense, human right and basics of press freedom. It also relates the press with democratic rules.
